Ross Farnham CPA,CA (RETIRED)

Moving in 1960 from Streetsville to Mississauga (then Cooksville), Ross began his accounting career as an articling student with Wm Gerald, Chartered Accountant, one of the first accounting firms in the community. He obtained his C.A. designation in 1963 and in the same year became a partner in the firm, which was renamed Gerald, Farnham & Company. To expand his presence in the small and growing community, Ross played an active role in the Peel County Social Planning Council, Cooksville Business Men's Association, Lions Club and Cooksville Snowmobile Club. He started his own practice in 1970 and was joined by his son Steve in 1985. Over the years, Ross has enjoyed the trust and confidence of many of the community's leading entrepreneurs and business people. His experience is a tremendous asset to the firm, as is his commonsense approach to business and tax issues. While no longer involved in the day-to-day management of the practice, Ross remains active in the firm servicing those friends and clients from the early years in Cooksville and acting as a resource for the entire staff.

Ross has been elected a Life Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario in recognition of his long and distinguished service to the profession.

Steve Farnham CPA, CA, CFP

Following graduation from the University of Toronto in 1982 with a Bachelor of Commerce, Steve joined Clarkson Gordon (now Ernst & Young) in the Mississauga office. He obtained his C.A. designation in 1984 and spent the following two years working for the firm’s affiliate in New Zealand. Upon returning from overseas, Steve joined his father’s practice and the firm became Farnham + Farnham. In 2006 Steve celebrated his 20th year with the firm and throughout that time has been privileged to work with many leading local entrepreneurs, their families and employees.

Steve's strength, in addition to strong technical skills, is his sensitivity to the realities of the entrepreneurial family business, both financial and non-financial, and his ability to provide practical, commonsense guidance. His passion for providing excellent client service, in addition to his commitment, mentoring, and team approach, are the foundation on which the firm has built its reputation. In 1999, Steve obtained his Certified Financial Planner designation to further bolster his ability to assist clients with succession and estate planning issues, and in 2008 Steve completed the two-year CICA in-depth tax course.

Steve is passionate about travel and the outdoors and his adventures have taken him to India, China, Pakistan, Nepal and Vietnam, among other less exotic destinations.

  John Holman

Upon graduation in 1987, John joined KPMG Peat Marwick Mississauga, holding positions as Audit Manager, Senior Manager, Manager of the Owner Managed Business Industry, and a two-year term on the KPMG GTA Management team. John joined the Farnham + Company family in January 2002 as Senior Manager, bringing a wealth of knowledge in the areas of accounting and taxation of owner-managed businesses and multinational audits. His experience crosses many sectors, including airlines, the wine industry, real estate, and construction with specialties in the manufacturing and automotive industries. As an Associate of Farnham + Company, John is sensitive to the challenges many owner-managers encounter and offers extensive experience in small to medium audits, review engagements and compilations, as well as personal and corporate taxation.

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his family camping, experiencing the outdoors, being an amateur chef and dabbling in home renovation projects when time permits.

  Julie Bergeron CPA, CA

Julie graduated from Laval University in Quebec City in 1987 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She joined Laliberté Lanctôt, Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and obtained her C.A. designation in 1989.

Prior to joining Farnham + Company in 2001, Julie held a variety of senior accounting positions for companies such as Laurentian Financial (now Desjardins Financial Security Life) and The Hudson's Bay Company. More recently, she was VP Finance for First Asset Management Inc., a leading provider of sophisticated investment products and services for both institutional and high net worth clients. At Farnham + Company, Julie focuses her practice principally on investment holding companies and their shareholders.

Although passionate about travel and the outdoors, Julie now devotes most of her free time to her young son and daughter.

Catherine Fulcher CPA, CA

Catherine graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce in 2000 with a minor in economics. She joined KPMG Mississauga office directly after graduation where she obtained her CA designation in 2003. During her stay at KPMG she worked for 4 years as an auditor for the industrial and automotive practice followed by 4 years in corporate and real estate tax, completing the in-depth tax program in 2007.

Catherine joined the Farnham team in March of 2009 specializing in tax compliance services for corporations, individuals and estates. Working primarily in owner managed businesses she also provides clients with general accounting, tax and business advisory services. 

Outside of work, Catherine devotes her time to two young children, serving on Parent Teacher council and running in various charity events.

Lou Smeyers CPA, CGA, PCP

Lou graduated from the University of Toronto in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science and obtained his C.G.A. designation in 1998. He also qualified for his payroll compliance practitioner (P.C.P.) designation from the Canadian Payroll Association in 2011.

Prior to joining Farnham + Company in January of 2011 as Senior Manager – Assurance, Lou held progressively senior management roles in both industry and public practice. Lou is a seasoned accounting professional and brings to our team a strong business skill set and technical background in accounting, assurance and tax. In his current role, Lou`s primary focus is assisting clients with the multitude of accounting and tax challenges that face owner-managed businesses on a day-to-day basis.

Lou enjoys spending his free time with family and friends. On an occasional Saturday morning he can be found playing football on the grid iron with the North Oakville Men’s Touch Football Association (“NOMFTA”). He is also Chair of his children’s local school council, a Cub Pack Leader for 19th Oakville and sits on the Executive of the North Oakville Men’s Touch Football Association.

Sarita Saini CPA, CGA

Sarita received her CGA designation in 2001. Prior to joining Farnham + Company in 2011 she worked for two small accounting firms for 12 years where she gained valuable experience in a variety of industries. Sarita’s strong financial accounting and tax skills are appreciated by her clients as is her patience. Sarita also provides QuickBooks support and training to many of our clients.

  Lisa Ferencina

Lisa joined Farnham + Company in 1987. As a dedicated staff accountant, Lisa provides the firm's clients with a wide variety of accounting and tax services. She responds to clients’ needs in a timely and professional manner and is committed to providing outstanding service. Her strength lies in understanding today's entrepreneurial family and the demands involved in their world. Lisa’s 20+ years of service has provided a wealth of experience for her clients to draw on.

Along with keeping her life balanced with her own family, Lisa still finds the time to volunteer her services to a local community youth organization as Vice President of Finance and Administration.

  Angela Mondoux

Angela graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1999. She has worked in public accounting since graduating and joined Farnham + Company in September 2004. Angela is committed to providing excellent client service by understanding the client’s needs and responding to them in a timely and
professional manner.

In her spare time Angela is very involved in her son’s extracurricular activities, especially during hockey season as she cheers him on at the rink. Angela enjoys volunteering for local organizations; finds time to enjoy the outdoors and loves to hike, rollerblade and ski.

Nira Scott

Nira joined Farnham + Company as a staff accountant in March 2014. Since her graduation from Sheridan College in 2001, Nira has held accounting and financial controller positions in a variety of industries including automotive, marketing, legal, education and construction.

Nira has a keen sense of the challenges faced by business owners on a regular basis.  She strives to help clients by focusing on implementing quality accounting systems and processes that support long-term success. 

In her spare time, Nira enjoys volunteering in her community, traveling with her family and spending time outdoors.

Shelly Byman CPA, CGA

Shelly joined Farnham + Company as our controller in January 2011. She obtained her C.G.A. designation in 1987 while working for Touche Ross (now Deloitte). Shelly’s career at Deloitte spanned two mergers with key roles in senior management including leading and managing ERP system implementation projects for accounting, payroll and benefits. Since then, she has held controller positions in manufacturing, the wine industry and legal services.

  Judy-Ann Ramoutar

Judy-Ann started with Farnham + Company in 1997 and has been the main voice behind the switchboard, taking your calls as well as providing a wide range of invaluable administrative duties and client assistance. Judy-Ann's dedication and hard work over the past 15 + years is greatly appreciated by our team and clients.

Judy-Ann is a mother of two and enjoys supporting her children in their daily activities. She has been a hockey trainer for her son's teams and a soccer coach for her daughter's teams. She enjoys the adventures of the outdoors and traveling to different destinations with her family.

  Jill Hryhorchuk

Jill joined Farnham + Company in 2013, providing top-notch administrative support services to clients and staff alike.  Prior to joining our team, Jill worked in the travel industry in Ottawa, developing her skills in client service management.  Jill’s natural interest in Accounting and eventual move to Mississauga prompted not only a career change but pursuit of a Business Administration-Accounting Diploma.

Enjoying nature anytime of the year, Jill can be found trail hiking with family during the summer and snowshoeing in the winter.  Jill also likes to get creative in the kitchen exploring her culinary talents.
